Huskies Turn Up Pressure But Can't Equalize At William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Northeastern field hockey team (4-4, 0-1 CAA) fell 2-1 in a hard-fought battle against the William & Mary Tribe (3-3, 2-0 CAA) Friday afternoon at Busch Field.
  • The Huskies' goal was scored by graduate student Lauren Rowe off a rocket of a shot during a penalty corner in the third quarter. It was Rowe's seventh goal this season and fifth in the past six games. Her seven goals are good for fourth in the CAA.
  • Assisting on Rowe's tally were senior forward Sarah Coyle and junior midfielder Maria Armaganian. Coyle's assist was her seventh and she now leads the CAA in assists, while Armaganian picked up her third.
  • The Huskies outshot William & Mary 10-8, with Northeastern picking up steam in the second half, tallying nine shots compared to the Tribe's one.
  • William & Mary took a two-goal lead into the half after scoring twice in the first quarter and did not relinquish it.
Northeastern now stays in Virginia and moves onto Sunday, Sept. 24, as they take on Virginia Commonwealth at 1 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
