Box Score RICHMOND, Va. — The Northeastern field hockey team (4-5, 0-1 CAA) was defeated by the VCU Rams (7-2, 1-1 A-10) 2-1 at Cary Street Field Sunday afternoon after taking the lead in the third quarter.
- Both teams failed to score in the first half, as the Huskies outshot VCU 3-2 in the first 30 minutes.
- Northeastern got on the board first in the third quarter thanks to freshman Alex Mega's fourth goal of the season on a driving backhanded effort. She was assisted by junior Maria Armaganian, who picked up her fourth assist this season.
- The Rams scored soon after off a penalty stroke to tie it in the third quarter and took the lead with 4:52 to play in the fourth.
- Graduate student captain Lauren Rowe led the Huskies in shots with two and fellow classmate and captain Cailin Hart anchored the back line with 60 minutes of play.
- Northeastern had four penalty corners compared to the Rams' three.
The Huskies will look to bounce back next weekend as they travel to CAA opponent Towson Friday, Sept. 29 and head to crosstown foe Boston University Sunday, Oct. 1. The Towson game can be streamed on FloSports and the game against Boston University will be on ESPN+.
