BOSTON – Julianna Truscott tallied a team-high 10 kills on .385 hitting, but the Northeastern volleyball team (6-5, 2-1 CAA) fell to Hofstra (13-1, 3-0 CAA) on Saturday afternoon at the Cabot Center.
- Set One: Both teams traded points to start the frame, with neither leading by more than two points. Hofstra pulled ahead 17-11 after back-to-back kills, and didn't look back. The Pride hit .343 overall in the frame and took the set 25-16.
- Set Two: The Huskies got off to an early 3-0 lead, propelled by kills from Nyla Shepherd and Truscott. Northeastern continued to keep the momentum, extending the advantage to 7-2 after an ace by Truscott. Hofstra though, fought back to knot up the frame at 16 at the midway point. Back-to-back errors by the Pride put the Huskies in front 22-20, and Northeastern held on to take the set 25-21. Truscott led the Huskies with five kills in the frame on .500 hitting.
- Set Three: Hofstra stormed out to an 11-5 lead and remained in front for the entirety of the frame. Up 18-12, the Pride tallied six straight points, and ultimately took the set 25-14.
- Set Four: The teams went back in forth, with Hofstra taking a slim 7-5 lead at the start. Up 11-9, Hofstra tallied four straight points to pull ahead at 15-9. Back-to-back kills from Truscott made it 15-12, but Hofstra continued to hold onto a lead down the stretch, and took the set 25-21.
- Truscott also tallied four blocks and 11 digs.
- Shepherd notched five kills and six blocks.
- Defne Arliel had nine kills and picked up her 500th career kill in the first set.
- Inbal Peleg dished out a team-high 29 assists and 14 digs.
- Abby Reck chipped in with eight kills, five digs and two blocks.
The two teams will face again on Sunday, September 24. First serve is slated for 2 p.m., and will stream on FloVolleyball.
