THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- ROAD DAWGS: The Huskies owned a 13-2-0 record in true road games last season and a 3-1-0 record in neutral site games. The Huskies have not lost a non-conference regular season true road game since falling to Colgate during the 2017-18 season.
- LET'S REWIND: Northeastern open its 2023-24 campaign with a series split against then-No. 11 Penn State, winning game one 1-0 and falling in game two, 2-1. The reigning National Goaltender of the Year, fifth year Gwyneth Philips picked up right where she left off opening the season with a 27-save shutout and then making 37 saves in the loss. Freshman Peyton Compton scored her first NCAA goal and eventual game-winner in the season-opener, while sophomore Lily Shannon potted the Huskies' lone goal in game two. Senior Abbey Marohn currently leads the Huskies with two assists.
- SHARK BAIT, OHH HA HA!: Northeastern and LIU are set to meet for the third time in program history on Friday, and the first time in New York. The Huskies swept the Sharks in the two program's first series meeting last season by scores of 3-1 and 10-1. The Sharks will open their 2023-24 campaign against the Huskies after being picked to repeat as New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) champions in the preseason coaches' poll. The Sharks made their first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament last season after earning NEWHA's automatic bid.
The Huskies will next open Hockey East play at Boston University on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in Walter Brown Arena.
