Lauryn Wojcik scored two goals and graduate student midfielder
Lauren Rowe scored a goal and recorded an assist to lead the Northeastern field hockey team (3-1) to a 5-1 win over the Merrimack Warriors (0-3) at Dedham Field Sunday afternoon.
Rowe's goal marked the 100
th point in her career, making her the only active Husky with 100.
- Wojcik got on the board first, scoring her third goal in her third consecutive game. It took just 58 seconds for her shot to find the back of the cage off assists from junior midfielder Lara Taylor and senior forward Mak Graves.
- Rowe scored the Huskies' next goal just under seven minutes into the contest, a missile into the bottom right corner of the cage. It was her fifth goal of the year and third straight game with a goal. She was assisted by senior forward Sarah Coyle and junior midfielder Maria Armaganian.
- Coyle's assist was her sixth of the weekend after recording five against Holy Cross Friday, Sept. 1.
- The Warriors got on the board in the second with a goal, but the Huskies answered quickly as freshman forward Alex Mega scored with 7:04 to play in the first half.
- It was Mega's second goal this season and she was assisted by Rowe.
- Wojcik tallied her second score of the day just 54 seconds into the second half, finishing off a tap-in attempt from senior forward Mak Graves and junior midfielder Lara Taylor.
- Coyle had the final goal of the day, her first of the season off an assist from Emmy Stubbs in the fourth quarter.
- The Huskies outshot the Warriors 27-7 and had 11 penalty corners compared to the Warriors' three.
- Northeastern has now won three straight games for the first time since 2019.
After a weekend in which they outscored their opponents 13-3, the Huskies will stay at home in Dedham next weekend when they host Brown Friday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. and No. 17 Boston College Sunday, Sept. 10 at 12 p.m.
