Men's Basketball Returns Home To Host Hofstra, Towson

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team returns home for a pair of games at Matthews Arena this week, beginning on Thursday night against Hofstra at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The Huskies will then take on Towson on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. on NESN and FloHoops.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY VS. THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS

Northeastern and Hofstra are meeting for the 56th time on Thursday, with Hofstra holding the series lead 30-25. The Pride have won the past four matchups, with the last Huskies win coming in 2021. Thursday's matchup features the programs with the most CAA victories (regular and postseason) since 2013 (Hofstra - 129 wins, Northeastern - 117 wins).

Saturday's game with the Tigers, meanwhile, will be the 49th meeting between the two programs, with Northeastern holding a 28-20 advantage in the series. Each of the last four games have been decided by single digits.

2. OUT OF THE WOODS
Harold Woods has proven to be a key contributor off the bench early in the season, averaging 9.3 points per game and 3.7 rebounds/game, including a career-high 21 points at Princeton on Nov. 25. His PPG are up by 6.8 points per game and his FG% is up by 30% from his freshman campaign.

Woods has led the team in scoring three times this season, including 16 points at Monmouth on Monday in which he made a career-high three 3-point field goals and dished out a career-high four assists.

3. FROM THE STRIPE
As a team, Northeastern is fifth in the CAA making an average of 14.5 FTs per game, and 51st in the nation in FT% (75.2). Northeastern was a perfect 12-of-12 from the line on Monday at Monmouth, the first time NU shot 100% from the line (min. 10 attempts) since Feb. 1, 2020 vs. Elon (19-of-19).

The Huskies set school records in both free throws made (40) and free throw attempts (51) in the Dec. 2 win over Old Dominion. Northeastern is the only school in the country to make 40 free throws in a game this season, and one of six schools to do so since the 2020-21 season. The 40 made free throws are also the seventh most in CAA history.

The Huskies went 324-of-473 (68.5%) from the line last season.
