Huskies Head To North Carolina A&T, Elon This Weekend

BOSTON – Winners of two straight, the Northeastern men's basketball team head back on the road this weekend, beginning at North Carolina A&T on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Huskies will then travel to Elon for a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday. Both games will be streamed on FloHoops.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THIS WEEKEND'S OPPONENTS
Northeastern and North Carolina A&T, a recent addition to the CAA, have only met once, when the Huskies won 88-76 at Matthews Arena a season ago. In that game, Chris Doherty was one of three Huskies in double figures with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Huskies and Elon will meet for the 19th time, with Northeastern leading the series 11-7. Northeastern is in search of its first win at Elon since 2019.

2. APPROACHING HISTORY
The longest-tenured head coach in the CAA, Northeastern's Bill Coen is tied with Jim Larranaga for first in conference history in combined CAA and tournament wins with 183 and sits one victories from breaking the conference record. During his tenure on Huntington Avenue, Coen has led Northeastern to five appearances in the CAA Championship game, the most of any school in the conference since 2013, and two conference titles in 2015 and 2019.

3. GUESS WHO'S BACK
Luka Sakota returned to the lineup after missing two games to lead Northeastern in scoring in two games last week. Sakota put up 19 points against Hofstra before 18 against Towson, along with a team-high five rebounds and four assists against the Tigers, shooting 59% (13-of-22) from the field in those two games. Sakota is second on the team this season averaging 11.4 points per game, reaching double digits nine times.
