Huskies Conclude Action At John Thomas Terrier Classic, Riverhawk Invitational

BOSTON — Senior Ava Duggan broke the Northeastern record in the 1000m run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic as the Huskies concluded their weekend at BU and the Track at New Balance.
 
Duggan finished the 1000m in 2:43.70, finishing as the top collegiate finisher and sixth overall. 
 
JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC
  • Junior Nicole Dunbury improved her time in the 800m to 2:11.86, keeping her at sixth on the All-Time Indoor Performance List, while fifth-year Sarah Petersen earned a personal best of 2:12.72 in the event.
  • Following Duggan in the 1000m was classmate Abigail Hassman, whose time of 2:45.24 was also good enough to break the school record, but she will slot into the second place on the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
  • Junior Lucy Abdow also ran in the 1000m and set a personal best with a time of 2:52.12, earning her ninth place on the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
  • In the mile, senior Azza Borovicka-Swanson clocked a time of 4:49.48, sliding into fifth place on the All-Time Performance List and finishing in 39th in a field of 256 athletes.
  • Fifth-year Isa Meyers closed out the event for the Huskies in the 3000m, running a 9:31.59, second-best on the All-Time Indoor Performance List and the best time in the CAA this season.
 
RIVERHAWK INVITATIONAL
  • Junior Tremain Robinson was the leading Husky weight thrower, tossing his weight 17.46m, a new personal best.
  • In the 60m hurdles, freshman Chinwuba Jon-Nwakalo finished third with a time of 8.88.
  • Graduate student Kerem Ayhan set his personal best in the 400m, almost cracking the Northeastern All-Time Indoor Performance List with a time of 48.80 seconds.
  • The top finisher for the Huskies in the 800m was junior Joseph Thumann, who ran a 1:56.00 in the event.
  • Junior Athanasios Pantazopoulos finished fourth in the pole vault with a score of 4.65.
  • Freshman Ryan Sarney ran in the 3000m, crossing the line at 8:26.72 and setting a personal best.
 
Next up, Northeastern takes on the Harvard Crimson Elite Friday, Feb. 2 and the David Hemery Invite at Boston University Saturday, Feb. 3.
