THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
The Huskies and Towson will meet for the 50th time on Thursday night, with Northeastern leading the series 29-20. Northeastern won the earlier meeting this season in Boston, 67-59, led by 18 points, five rebounds and four assists from
Luka Sakota.
Â
Saturday's tilt with the Seawolves will also be the second meeting of the year between the two teams, with Stony Brook picking up a 62-53 win on Jan. 4 at Matthews Arena.
Masai Troutman had a team-high 16 points while
Chris Doherty logged 15 points and 12 boards.
Â
2. DOUBLE 'EM UP
Graduate student
Chris Doherty has done it all for the Huskies this season, leading the Huskies in scoring (13.5 ppg), rebounds (6.9 rpg), assists (2.6 apg). He has six double-doubles this season, good for fourth in the CAA and 61st in the country, and is second in the league and is 77th in the nation in field goal percentage (53.1%).
Â
Doherty has reached 20+ points five times this season, including a career-high 27-point, 13-rebound effort on Jan. 27 against William & Mary. Doherty is averaging 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in league play.
Â
3. ON THE GLASS
The Huskies have outrebounded opponents in 16 of their 21 games this season, including 11 of the last 13 games.
Chris Doherty leads the team and is seventh in the CAA with 144 rebounds (6.9 rpg). Doherty is on pace to lead the team in rebounding for the third straight season, and would be just the seventh Husky since 1960 to do so (Jim Moxley, Chip Rucker, Mark Halsel, Reggie Lewis, Lin Lattimore, Bolden Brace).
