LONDON — To close out 2023 and begin 2024, the Northeastern swim and dive team embarked on a training trip to London, England, practicing at the 2012 Olympic Center and touring the United Kingdom's capital from Dec. 30 to Jan. 6.
The Huskies began the trip at the London Aquatics Centre in Stratford, where they practiced in the same pool that the 2012 Olympics were held in. Northeastern's swimmers trained in the long course Olympic pool and in a short-course meters training pool. For the divers, they used state-of-the-art dryland and dive facilities and watched training sessions for both the Great Britain and French National Teams.
The Huskies spent a day at freshman swimmer
May Bradburn's house. Bradburn, a native of Chelmsford, and her family hosted the team for a traditional British meal, a tour of her village and a public holiday light show. The team also took a double-decker bus tour around London, seeing all the sights the city had to offer. They passed the London Eye, Big Ben, the Parliament building, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
Finally, the Huskies ended their tour with a stop at the Northeastern London campus.
Following the trip, Northeastern turns its attention to a home matchup in Barletta Natatorium Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 a.m. against Vermont on FloSports. Prior to the meet, the Huskies will recognize nine seniors for their contributions to Northeastern swimming and diving.
