Men’s Rowing Set To Race At The Head Of The Charles

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's rowing team is set to kick off its fall campaign at the Head of the Charles on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20. The Huskies will have two boats competing on Saturday in the men's club 8+ at 1:18 p.m. and two boats in the men's championship 8+ on Sunday at 1:50 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

LAST TIME AT THE HOCR – Last season, Northeastern's second varsity boat won its race at the Head of the Charles with a time of 14:52.639. The victory marked the Huskies' first win in that event since 2014. Northeastern's first varsity boat also had a stellar performance in the championship eight, finishing fourth collegiately (sixth overall) with a time of 14:36.712.
2024-25 CAPTAINS – Head coach Alex Perkins announced that Braden Porterfield, Jakub Kyncl, and Aidan Murphy have been named captains for the season. The trio will be stepping into the leadership positions for the first time in their Husky careers. Porterfield, Kyncl, and Murphy all competed in Northeastern's first varsity boat last season that finished ninth in the nation at the IRA Championships.
PORTERFIELD, LOPAS EARN U23 MEDALS – Porterfield won gold with the US 4+ and Ed Lopas won bronze with the NZ 4- to highlight three student-athletes from the squad who competed at the U23 World Rowing Championships in late August. The victory for Porterfield and the 4+ marked Team USA's first gold in the event since 2018.

The Huskies will close out their fall slate with the Foot of the Charles on Saturday, November 9.
