BOSTON - Jane Nelson tallied a team-high 14 kills, but the Northeastern volleyball team (7-12, 5-6 CAA) fell to the Stony Brook Seawolves (14-7, 7-4 CAA) on Friday afternoon at the Cabot Center.

In addition to Nelson,
Brynn Smith also paced NU with nine kills and nine digs.
Arina Sosinovica guided the offense with 18 assists, and
Carly Cooper also had a strong day with a double-double of 10 assists and 10 digs.

On defense,
Nadia Koanui tallied a team-high 17 digs, and
Millie Loehr had four blocks.
- Set One: NU started off strong, taking a 9-5 advantage, capped off by an ace from Cooper. After Stony Brook tied the score up at 9, the Huskies won four of the next six points to take the lead back at 14-10. NU continued to hold onto the momentum, going on a 6-0 run to extend the advantage to 20-11. Loehr paced the Huskies with four of her kills in the frame, and NU took the set at 25-18. Â
- Set Two: The visitors stormed out to a 16-6 lead and remained in front. NU tallied four straight points capped off by a kill by Georgia Stavrinides to trim the deficit to 15-12, but the Seawolves responded right back. A kill by Smith made it 20-17, but Stony Brook notched the final five points of the frame to win the set at 25-17.
- Set Three: Both teams traded points, with neither leading by more than two. A kill by Cooper put NU ahead at 12-11, but the Seawolves quickly tied the score up. Leoni Kunz was the story for Stony Brook in the frame, leading with six kills on .357 hitting to propel the visitors to the set victory at 25-18.
- Set Four: After being tied up at nine, Stony Brook tallied the next two points to take the lead (11-9). A few points later, a kill by Nelson trimmed the deficit to 17-15, but Stony Brook responded with a 4-0 run. A kill by Olivia Alicante followed by an error by the visitors down the stretch made it 22-19, but Stony Brook won the next three points to seal the win (25-19). Â
- Loehr also chipped in with seven kills.
- Gabby Reeves added eight digs and two service aces.
- Sahitya Krishnamurthy tallied nine digs.
- The match had 16 ties, and seven lead changes.
The Huskies will close out play against the Seawolves in their annual "Dig Pink" match on Saturday, October 26. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on Flovolleyball.
