BOSTON, Mass. — After a trip across town to MIT, the Northeastern women's swimming and diving team (2-1) returns to Barletta Natatorium to host the UConn Huskies (2-1) for its Mental Health Awareness Meet on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m. The meet will be available to stream on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- LAST WEEKS WINNERS — The Huskies earned six individual and one team wins at MIT last Friday, led by graduate student Emily Gjertsen, who championed the 1000 Yard Free (10:16.89) and 500 Yard Free (5:03.77). Junior Anna Verlander was victorious in the 200 Yard Back with a time of 2:03.54, while sophomore May Bradburntook first in the 100 Yard Fly with a 55.63 mark, and senior captain Hannah Seward won the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:07.58. On the diving board, senior Erin Murphy earned another victory in the 3M Dive with a score of 68.05, and a team comprised of Murphy, senior captain Isabelle Chambers, and junior Jodi Au took first in the 1-meter team diving event with a 242.30 combined score.
- BATTLE OF THE HUSKIES — Northeastern welcomes UConn to Barletta Natatorium for the second straight year. The Huskies took eight wins in last year's meeting to lead the team to a 165.5-133.5 victory. Several Northeastern Husky swimmers were victorious on the afternoon, including junior Kotoko Blair, who won two team events and an individual win in the 100 Yard Free.
- LOOKING AHEAD—Following Saturday's meet, the Huskies have three events left this calendar year. They start with the Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University, from Nov. 22-24, before heading to Durham, N.H., to take on the UNH Wildcats on Saturday, Dec. 7. The swim and dive team concludes its calendar year with a trip to Puerto Rico for winter training.
Northeastern will have the next two weeks off before the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University at the FitRec Competition Pool from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24, beginning on Friday at 10 a.m.
