Huskies Host Maine

BOSTON— The Northeastern women's hockey team is set to host the Maine Black Bears for two games in Matthews Arena beginning on Friday, Nov. 15 at. 6 p.m. Game two is set for a 1:30 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, Nov. 16. Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. A SWEDE WEEKEND: Freshmen Lisa Jönsson and Tuva Kandell earned their first career weekly honors from Hockey East after helping lead NU to back-to-back shutouts over then-No. 10 UConn. The Player of the Week, Jönsson posted 61 saves over two games and is the first NU goalie to post back-to-back shutouts over a ranked opponent since 2010. Kandell was named the Defensive Player of the Week after posting three blocks and an assist on the game-winning goal on Friday.
  2. BLOCK IT LIKE IT'S HOT: Northeastern has blocked 164 shots this year, the most among all Hockey East schools and ninth-best mark in the NCAA. The Huskies had a season-high 22 blocks against then-No. 10 UConn on Nov. 9, the most blocks in a game by NU since Jan. 13, 2024. Tory Mariano's 23 blocks lead the Huskies and are the second-most of any Hockey East player.
  3. THE MAINE COMPETITION: Northeastern went 1-1-1 against Maine in 2023-24. Skylar Irving led all Huskies with two goals against the Black Bears last season. NU has not dropped a home game to Maine since a 3-2 overtime loss on Nov. 24, 2019. Maine most recently was swept by BC and the Black Bears are looking to break a three-game losing streak. Freshman Stephanie Jacob leads Maine with five points. Julia Bachetti and Kiia Lahtinen have each seen time in net this season. The freshman, Lahtinen has gotten the last eight starts for the Black Bears.
The Huskies will next face No. 11/13 Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 30at 7 p.m. in Matthews Arena. The game will be available to watch on NESN and ESPN+.
