Women’s Hockey Welcomes Eight Freshmen

BOSTON— Northeastern women's hockey head coach Dave Flint has announced the signing of eight freshmen ahead of the 2025-26 season. The eight-member class consists of four forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender.
 
The Huskies will welcome Alessia Baechler, Hannah Christenson, Ella Lloyd, Molly MacCurtain, Lexi Mara, Emy McDermid, Renna Trembecky and Stryker Zablocki.
 
"The class of 2025 will have an immediate impact on our program from the moment they step on campus," remarked Flint. "We will add elite scoring, high-end defense and more world class goaltending, as well as bolster our team's depth at all positions. We are excited to welcome all eight new players from all over the world to the Northeastern community."
 
Alessia Baechler
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Illnau, Switzerland
High School: K+S Rämibühl Zurich
Club: HC Davos
  • Represented the Swiss National Team at four IIHF Women's World Championships (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025)
  • Three-time U18 Swiss National Team member at IIHF U18 Women's World Championship
  • Played for ZSC/CGK Lions from 2017-24 and was a three-time Swiss Champion with the women's team and Swiss Champion with the U17 boys team
  • Played for HC Davos in 2024-25, and was named the league's Best Defender in 2025
 
Hannah Christenson
Position: Forward
Hometown: Andover, Minnesota
High School: Andover High School
Club: Minnesota Junior Whitecaps
  • Four-year letterwinner and All-Conference honoree at Andover
  • Minnesota Class AA State Champion in 2022
  • Played with Minnesota Junior Whitecaps and MN High School Elite from 2022-25
Ella Lloyd
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Ardrossan, Alberta
High School: Salisbury Composite High School
Club: Barrie Jr. Sharks
  • Team captain and assistant captain with Barrie Jr. Sharks, Edmonton Jr. Oilers and Team Alberta
  • Two-time Edmonton Jr. Oilers MVP (2022-23, 2023-24) and Rookie of the Year (2022-23)
  • Named Jr. Oiler of the Year and AFHL Top Defender U18AAA in 2023-24
  • Represented Team Alberta at U18 Women's National Championships in 2023 and 2024
  • 2024 Esso Cup U18 Club National Champion
Molly MacCurtain
Position: Forward
Hometown: Reading, Massachusetts
High School: Noble and Greenough School
Club: East Coast Wizards
  • Four-year member and senior captain at Noble and Greenough School
  • NEPSAC Champions (2024) and ISL Champions (2022, 2024) with Noble and Greenough
  • Two-time All-NEPSAC First Team selection (2024, 2025) and All-ISL Honors (2024, 2025)
  • Selected for USA Hockey National Development Camps in 2021, 2022 and 2023
  • U16 Massachusetts State Champion (2022) with East Coast Wizards 
Lexi Mara
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Winchester, Massachusetts
High School: Buckingham Browne & Nichols School
Club: Assabet Valley
  • Four-year player with BB&N and senior captain
  • All-ISL and All-NEPSAC in 2024 and 2025
  • Won Large School Tournaments in 2022 and 2024
  • Four-time state champion with Assabet Valley (2021-2025)

Emy McDermid

Renna Trembecky

Stryker Zablocki
