TOWSON, MD. – The Northeastern volleyball team (8-13, 6-7 CAA) fell to the Towson Tigers (19-4, 10-3 CAA) in three sets on Saturday evening at TU Arena.
- Set One: Towson got off to an early 4-1 lead, capped off by kills from Victoria Barrett. The Tigers continued to push the pace, extending the advantage to 15-6. NU went on a 3-0 run highlighted by an ace from Carly Cooper and a kill from Georgia Stavrinides to trim the deficit to 15-11, but the hosts responded back. The Tigers hit .325 overall, and won the set at 25-18.
- Set Two: Both teams traded points, with neither leading by more than one at the start. The Tigers though, pulled ahead at 8-4 after four straight points. Towson continued to extend their advantage throughout the frame, and ultimately took the set at 25-15.
- Set Three: Towson led 11-8, but the Huskies chipped away at the deficit. Back-to-back kills by Kinley Gomez and Millie Loehr made the score 17-13, but the Tigers responded with three straight points. After Towson extended the lead to 24-15, the Huskies went on a 5-0 run to trim the deficit to 25-20. Towson though, held on to win at 25-20.
- Gomez tallied seven kills and seven digs.
- Nadia Koanui tallied a team-high 16 digs.
- Cooper had 10 assists, two aces, and six digs.
- Loehr and Brynn Smith chipped in with six kills apiece.
The Huskies will close out play against Towson on Sunday, November 3 at 2 p.m. on FloVolleyball.
