STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Maddie Vizza tallied a team-high 15 points, and the Northeastern women's basketball team (1-4) used a big first half to take down the Wagner Seahawks (1-3) on Friday evening at Spiro Sports Center.

Vizza had a strong night, tallying 12 of her points from deep. NU also had double-digit performances from
Natalie Larrañaga (12 points, seven rebounds, three assists),
Yirsy Quéliz (12 points, six rebounds, three assists) and
Alyssa Staten (10 points, 10 rebounds).

As a team, every Husky who entered the contest tallied a basket.

In the first half, Northeastern shot 52.8% (19-of-36) overall, and 54.5% (6-of-11) from three.

Wagner shot 32.0% (16-of-50) overall in the game, and 30% (6-of-20) from three and were led by Julia Fabozzi with 21 points.

After being knotted up at two, Northeastern's offense took off, tallying the next nine points to take a 11-2 advantage at the 5:19 mark. The Huskies continued to push the pace, as back-to-back layups by Larrañaga followed by a three from Vizza extended the lead to 18-6 with 3:21 to go. Staten notched a basket with one second remaining in the frame, and NU took a 22-11 lead into the second.

The Huskies' offense continued to be strong in the second, as a three from
Abby Jegede followed by a Staten jumper gave NU a 29-14 lead. Larranga and Vizza were the story for NU in the frame, recording 14 of the Huskies' points. Vizza tallied two of her threes to propel NU to a 42-18 advantage with 2:16 to go, and then Larranga responded with a three of her own (45-21). NU shot a blistering 83.3% (5-of-6) from deep and took a 45-21 advantage into halftime. Â

Northeastern continued to hold onto its double-digit lead in the third, as a layup by
María Sánchez Pitarch extended the lead to 49-23 at the 7:37 mark.
Oralye Kiefer paced the Huskies in the frame with all six of her points to give NU a 58-34 advantage with 1:27 to go. The Huskies had 12 bench points compared to Wagner's five, and took a 59-37 advantage into the fourth.

The Seahawks trimmed the NU advantage to 13 (65-49) at the 5:31 mark, but Vizza responded back with her fourth three of the night. Vizza ended her stellar performance with a jumper to put NU up 69-54, and put the game out of reach for good. Â

The Huskies will return to the court at LIU on December 1. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
