BOSTON – Yirsy Queliz tallied a career-high 18 points, but the Northeastern women's basketball team (1-7) fell to the Stonehill Skyhawks (4-7), 65-49, in its annual BPS game on Wednesday afternoon at the Cabot Center.

Queliz had a stellar day, shooting 6-of-14 from the floor, and 4-of-8 from deep. The sophomore also dished out three assists and tallied 11 of her points in the first half.

As a team, Stonehill shot 37.5% overall (24-of-64) and 25.9% (7-of-27) from deep, but had five players tally double-digit points.

NU got off to a quick 7-0 advantage, capped off by Queliz's first three of the day. Stonehill though, responded back with seven straight points to knot the contest up at the 4:02 mark. A jumper by Natalie Larranga gave NU the lead back at 9-7, and the Huskies shot 50% overall (6-of-12) to take a 14-11 advantage into the second.

After back-to-back baskets by Queliz and Alyssa Staten extended the NU advantage to 18-11, Stonehill's offense took off. The Skyhawks went on a 11-0 run to take a 25-20 lead at the 4:53 mark. Queliz tallied her third three of the game to trim the deficit, but the visitors led 32-28 at halftime.

NU battled in the third, as a layup by Camille Clement followed by a jumper by Maria Sanchez Pitarch gave the Huskies the lead back at 35-34 at the 6:43 mark. Stonehill though, ended the frame on a 13-1 run to take a 47-38 advantage into the fourth.

Queliz got NU going in the fourth with a three to trim the deficit to 47-41, but the visitors tallied six straight points and didn't look back. Stonehill shot 61.5% overall (8-of-13) in the frame to secure the win.
