Godish, Blair Break Records As Huskies Wrap Up Three Meets

BOSTON — The Northeastern track and field team ran at three separate meets Saturday, wrapping up competition at the Valentine Invitational, the Giegengack Invitational and the URI Coaches' Invitational.
 
Freshman Savannah Blair had the highlight of the day on the women's side, breaking the Northeastern record in the 60m dash at the Giegengack Invitational, crossing the line in 7.46 seconds. 
 
On the men's side, it was junior Ben Godish who broke a school record, finishing the mile in 3:57.43 at the Valentine Invitational.
 
VALENTINE INVITATIONAL
  • Senior Patrick Mullen began the day with a 14:11.59 in the 5000m, moving him into sixth on Northeastern's All-Time Top Ten list. That is the fourth-best time in the CAA this season.
  • Graduate student Kerem Ayhan followed that performance with third-best 800m time in program history, finishing in 1:48.06 and placing ninth out of 265 finishers.
  • Senior Patrick Cullen ran a 13:58.83 in the 5000m, the last event of the evening.
URI COACHES INVITE
  • Sophomore Mia Belanger won the high jump after hopping over a 1.76m bar, the third-best score by a Husky all-time. She is now tied for the CAA lead in the event this year.
  • Fifth-year Dominique Biron had a stellar day in the 60mH, winning the event with a time of 8.61 seconds and running an 8.51 in the qualifying round, the second-best Husky time ever.
  • Biron also won the long jump, leaping 5.69 meters in her second attempt, .15 meters better than the next finisher. 
  • Senior thrower Trinity Cardillo tossed her shot put 13.88 meters, the best mark by a Husky this season. 
  • Senior Hope Belvit was the best collegiate finisher in the weight throw, with her weight flying 17.92 meters.
GIEGENGACK INVITATIONAL
  • After Blair's time in the 60, graduate student Elizabeth McMahon finished in 7.55 seconds, tying the fifth-best performer in Northeastern history.
  • McMahon then won the 200, finishing at 24.23 and moving into fourth on the All-Time Northeastern Indoor Top Ten List.
  • Blair finished second, running a time of 24.56.
  • In the men's 200m, junior Noah Sweeney finished in 21.67 seconds, winning the event.
Next up, the Huskies will head to New York, New York as they compete in the CAA Championships at The Armory Feb. 22 to Feb. 23.
