Huskies Take On No. 3 Terriers In Beanpot Championship

BOSTON — The Northeastern men's hockey team is set to face the No. 3 Boston University Terriers in the Beanpot Championship on Monday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at TD Garden. The game will be available to watch on NESN and ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

DAWG BATTLE AT THE GARDEN: The last time the Huskies and the Terriers faced off in the Beanpot was in the 2023 semifinal game where the Huskies came out on top, 3-1. Alum Jakov Novak led the team with two points (1g, 1a) and defenseman Hunter McDonald recorded his first career goal to seal the win.
THE VET AND THE ROOKIE: From vet to rookie, senior Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and freshman Dylan Hryckowian have played huge roles for this Northeastern team. Fontaine has recorded eight points (2g, 6a) in five consecutive games. Last Monday, his overtime game-winning goal against Harvard now puts him with five points in five career games in the Beanpot tournament. For Hryckowian, he has tallied ten points (3g, 7a) in his last seven games that includes two game-winning goals.
SECOND-YEAR ITCH: Four sophomore Huskies have hit the gas since their freshman seasons. Defenseman Vinny Borgesi has more than doubled his point total from last year (10) in nine fewer games with 24 points on the year, while his fellow blueliner Jackson Dorrington has surpassed last year's point total (6) in 18 fewer games with 10 points this season. Additionally, Dorrington, who did not record a goal in his rookie campaign, now has five goals in his second year. The additional two sophomores who are having standout second years include forwards Cam Lund and Jack Williams. Lund recently passed his freshman year point total (23) in 11 fewer games, hitting the 24-point mark in a win over #6/5 Maine. Williams has flown past his rookie season point total (17) in 20 fewer games, leading the Huskies with 30 points this season.
