BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Northeastern men's basketball team (9-15, 4-7) buried a season-high 14 three-pointers and held off a late surge from Campbell (11-13, 5-6) to pick up a hard-fought win on the road Thursday night at Gore Arena, 86-76.

The Huskies, which had a 20-point lead trimmed to four with 4:31 left, stood tall late by hitting its final four shots to finish the night 31-of-55 (56%) and 14-of-25 from deep, the most threes in a game in more than three years.

Northeastern put five players in double figures for the fifth time this season, led by a career-high 24 points from
Luka Sakota on 7-of-13 from the field and 5-of-10 from three. Sakota, who returned to the lineup after missing the last three games, was joined by
Rashad King (17 points on 6-of-8 shooting),
Masai Troutman (12 points, four rebounds),
Jared Turner (12 points on 4-of-6 from three) and
Harold Woods (12 points, game-high eight rebounds).

Campbell, meanwhile, received 23 points from Anthony Dell'Orso to lead four Camels in double figures. Campbell finished the night 24-of-50 overall and 9-of-24 from long range.

Northeastern came out flying in the first half, shooting 60% overall and 50% from three to take a 42-29 lead into the locker room. The Huskies got production from up and down the lineup, led by nine points from King along with eight points and five boards from Woods.

NU used a 24-2 run over an eight-minute stretch to open the game up midway through the half, going 10-of-14 along the way and 4-of-6 from three.

The Huskies would lead by as many as 19 in the half before Campbell got it down to 12 at the break thanks to eight points from Sinani for a Camels squad that shot 10-of-23 overall and 4-of-13 from long range.

The threes continued to fall during the opening 10 minutes of the second half, allowing Northeastern to go up by as many as 20 with 9:36 to play, 68-48.

The tide started to turn from there, however, as Northeastern found itself in foul trouble, spurring a 16-0 Campbell run on 6-of-6 from the floor to get the Camels right back into it with 4:31 left, 68-64.

Northeastern weathered the storm, however, finding its shooting stroke again to regain a double-digit lead before icing the game with free throws down the stretch.

The Huskies will have a quick turnaround, returning home Saturday to host Monmouth. Tipoff at Matthews Arena is set for 1 p.m. on NESN+ and FloHoops.
