No. RV/20 Huskies Face No. 2 Terriers In Hockey East Quarterfinals

BOSTON — The No. RV/20 Northeastern men's hockey team takes a trip down the road to face the No. 2 Boston University Terriers this Saturday (March 16) for a Hockey East Quarterfinals, beginning at 4:15 p.m. on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. SOPHOMORE STARS: The Huskies' defensive duo of sophomores Vinny Borgesi and Jackson Dorrington continue to lead all Northeastern blueliners in goals, assists and points. Borgesi holds the lead with 23 assists and 28 points while Dorrington's six goals rank first among defensemen. The last player to lead all blueliners in goals and points was Zach Solow with eight goals (team-high in 2020-21) and 31 points (2019-20).
  2. THE ROOKIE: The rookie, Dylan Hryckowian, has found himself among the top scorers on the Northeastern roster this season. Through 33 games, he has posted 32 points from seven goals and 25 assists. His 32 points are the most by a freshman in program history since Mike Szmatula recorded 39 points in 2013-14, while his 25 assists are the most by any Northeastern rookie since 2001-02 when current assistant coach Jason Guerriero tallied 26 assists in a single season.
  3. THE GREAT GOALTENDERS: In Northeastern's 4-0 victory over Merrimack in the Hockey East tournament opening round, several players reached career and program records. Beginning with goaltender Cameron Whitehead, in picking up his 17th win of the season (tied for eighth in program history), he recorded the first-ever shutout in postseason play by a Northeastern goaltender. The fourth career shutout by the Ontario native also ties him for the program lead in shutouts by a freshman in a single season, accompanied by Cayden Primeau (2017-18) and Brad Thiessen (2006-07). Additionally, his four shutouts are tied for fourth among all NCAA goaltenders.
