Neal Makes NACE Hearthstone National Top 4

BOSTON - In the NACE (National Association of Collegiate Esports) Hearthstone National Competition, two members of the Northeastern Esports program made singles top eight and competed on Saturday afternoon, with one player making it to the national top four taking place Sunday.

Ethan "CritECal" Neal  and Eli "Rockfire" Kinkade entered this weekend both seeded into group B, seeds 2 and 7, respectively.

Neal is seeking repeat finals appearances, after falling in the finals last season to fellow Husky Ben "AutomatedButton" Pomeroy, who won Northeastern's first NACE Singles national championship. Neal comfortably secured a spot in the top 4 bracket after defeating "SuperChicken" from Carleton University 3-1 and a subsequent 3-0 sweep against RIT's "EpicMingo."

Kinkade, after a tough 0-3 loss to "Epic Mingo", fell 0-2 in the series with "superchicken", only to fight back and bring the series 2-2 going into game 5. After running out of time for a game winning play Kinkade ultimately lost, leaving Superchicken and EpicMingo to fight for the final top 4 slot.

Coverage of Neal's run in the top 4 bracket will be streamed on the Northeastern Esports Twitch account. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. as Northeastern seeks it's second straight season with a NACE national title in Hearthstone Singles.
