Murphy, Colby Win Diving Awards As Huskies Finish Fourth At CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. — After a week where the Huskies grabbed nine total medals, the Northeastern swimming and diving team earned fourth place at the 2024 CAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Hampton Aquaplex, finishing with 1,067 total points.
 
Junior Erin Murphy completed the sweep of the diving events, winning gold in the 1M Dive after scoring 285.30. She needed a 47.60 on her final dive and executed a back 1-and-a-half somersault 1-and-a-half twist free to earn a 50.00 and win the event.
 
Following the conclusion of the meet, Murphy was named the CAA Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet while diving coach Lauren Colby earned CAA Diving Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year.
  • Sophomore Anna Verlander picked up her second career medal in the 200 Free, earning silver this year with a time of 1:57.55 after grabbing gold a year ago.
  • Junior Devon Muldoon finished fourth in the event after touching the wall at 1:58.79 to take 26 points. Sophomore Teagan Osga finished fourth in the B Final at 2:01.75, taking 15 points.
    In the 1650 Free, freshman Bella Busconi finished her mile in 17:24.71, placing 14th and earning 13 points.
  • Freshman May Bradburn swam in the Championship of the 100 Free, touching the wall at 50.94 and taking 22 points.
  • Sophomore Marcela Scaramuzza took home the C Final title and the nine accompanying points, finishing at 2:20.98. Junior Stella Urness finished at 2:21.11 in the B Final and earned 11 points.
  • In the B Final, sophomore Kotoko Blair tied for second with 51.01 seconds and earned 16.5 points, while seniors Jamie Koo (51.07) and Grace Miller (51.17) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, combining for 29 points.
  • In the 200 Fly, junior Hannah Seward finished fourth in the B Final with 15 points, touching the wall at 2:03.53. Junior Francesca Arciniegas won the C Final, crossing the flags first and finishing at 2:04.66.
  • The Huskies' quartet of Bradburn, Blair, Miller and Koo finished the last relay, the 400 Free Relay, in 3:23.69, taking fifth. 
Next up, Murphy will head to NCAA Zone A Championships beginning Monday, March 11 in Princeton, New Jersey. The Huskies wrap up head coach Roy Coates' 21st season with their second straight year of finishing in the top four at the CAA Championships.
