SARASOTA, Fla. – The Northeastern men's rowing team wrapped up day one of the IRA Invitational, pushing two top 10 crews in Yale and Brown on Friday evening.

Alexander Abuhoff, the Huskies' first varsity boat got off to a clean and competitive start with a strong Yale crew. Northeastern kept Yale within reach, and had an advantage over Brown for second in the first half. Yale continued to lead in the second half, and Brown made a push in the last 500 meters to take a slim lead over the Huskies. In a close finish, the Bulldogs finished first at 5:57.43, Brown crossed the line at 5:58.86, and Northeastern finished at 6:01.40.

Aidan Murphy, Northeastern's second varsity got off to a fast start, leading by a few seats. The Huskies had a length advantage until the 1250 meter mark, and then Brown and Yale began to make a push to the finish. In a tightly contested race, Brown crossed the line first at 6:06.91, Yale finished in second at 6:08.81, and Northeastern just over two seconds behind 6:10.83. The Huskies' third varsity crossed the line at 6:29.18.
The Huskies will close out the invitational with a six-lane race against Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Brown, and Washington on Saturday, March 30. The 3V will start the racing off at 12:03 p.m. followed by the 2V at 12:16 pm, and then 1V at 12:29 p.m.
