Duggan Breaks Second Record In Two Days As Northeastern Concludes Three-Meet Weekend

BOSTON — Senior Ava Duggan broke her second record in as many days at the 2024 Raleigh Relays at NC State University Saturday, setting a new program low in the 800 meters, as Northeastern wrapped up the Raleigh Relays, Texas Relays and UConn Dog Fight.

RALEIGH RELAYS

  • Duggan finished the 800 in 2:07.65 to break the record, set previously by Sarah Adler in 2018.
  • Following her was junior Nicole Dunbury, who crossed the line at 2:09.53 to win her heat and move into fifth on the All-Time Outdoor Performance List, while senior Sarah Petersen finished in 2:12.22, a new personal best.
  • On the men's side, graduate student Kerem Ayhan finished third in the 800 meters and was the top collegiate finisher in a field of 147 competitors after recording a 1:48.55 time. Senior Pierre Sylvain notched a 1:52.16 time and classmate Anders Narita followed closely with a 1:52.80 time.

TEXAS RELAYS

  • Junior Ethan Exilhomme competed in the 110m hurdles final at the Texas Relays and finished fourth with a 13.50 wind-aided time. That bested his time of 13.56 seconds in the preliminary round Friday. 

UCONN DOG FIGHT

  • Junior Diego Sanabria got his day started on the right foot, throwing his javelin 61.23 meters on his first throw of the year, moving into sixth on the Northeastern All-Time Outdoor Performance List.
  • On the women's side, sophomore Hailey Romero finished third in the javelin throw with a 41.21-meter throw, marking the fifth-best throw in Northeastern All-Time Outdoor Performance List.
  • Senior Nicholas Pisciotta was the best hammer thrower, tossing his implement 61.38 meters to win the competition, while junior Tremain Robinson hit a PR in the event with a 53.72m mark.
  • In the women's discus, sophomore Madeleine Duchaussee hit a personal best with a 40.43-meter throw.
  • Fifth year Dominique Biron finished third in the long jump on the women's side with a 6.08m jump.
  • Sophomore Max Zuckerman started his season finishing third in the men's pole vault, eclipsing a 4.70m-high bar.
  • The Huskies went 1-2 in the women's 1500m, with junior Vivian McMahon finishing first with a 4:41.07 time and classmate Lucy Abdow taking second in 4:41.47. McMahon also had a 3000m time of 10:19.05, moving into 10th on the All-Time Outdoor Performance List.
  • The men's 1500m race featured three Northeastern runners in the top five, with seniors James Pothier (3:58.31), Daniel Caso (3:58.64) and freshman Ryan Sarney (3:58.98) placing in spots 2-4. Sarney also ran the 3000m in 8:58.26, finishing third.
  • Biron finished fourth in the 100m hurdles, running her personal-best time of 13.80 seconds. That mark moved her into fourth on the All-Time Outdoor Performance List. She also won the 400m hurdles in 1:02.27.
  • In the women's 400m, freshman Sierra Latonnel bested the field with a 56.84 time, while junior Claire Danyluk finished fourth with a time of 58.24 seconds. Latonnel also ran the 200, finishing in 24.95 seconds.
  • Freshman Victoria Knight made her outdoor collegiate debut with a time of 12.19 seconds in the 100m dash, finishing fifth. 
  • Freshman Brunner Williams crossed the line in 21.60 seconds in the 200m, finishing second.

Next up, Northeastern will head to the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational as well as the UMass Amherst Flagship Opener beginning Friday, April 5.
