Huskies Set To Face Brown For The Dreissigacker Cup

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's rowing team is set to race at home again this Saturday on the Charles, facing Brown for the Dreissigacker Cup. Races are slated for 7:48 a.m. (1V), 8:24 a.m. (2V), 9 a.m. (3V), 9:24 a.m. (4V).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

LAST TIME OUT – Under good racing conditions, the Huskies took care of business against Boston University, capturing the Arlett Cup in the first varsity Saturday morning on the Charles. Paced by Will Dempsey and Alexander Abuhoff in the stroke seat, the Huskies took two seats on the Terriers at the 650-meter mark before opening up nearly a half a length approaching the Mass Ave. Bridge. Northeastern would continue to push the pace, building an open water lead with 500-meters to go to retain the Arlett Cup at 5:59.0.
LAST TIME OUT VS. BROWN – Last season, the Huskies knocked off the Bears in thrilling fashion by .57 seconds, bringing the Dreissigacker Cup back to Henderson Boathouse. Brown led the race by five seats in the second 500, but with 700 meters to go the Huskies made a strong move, taking the lead with 100 meters remaining. Northeastern crossed the line ahead of Brown at 6:05.40, and the Bears finished at 6:05.97.
INSIDE THE DREISSIGACKER CUP – The Bears lead the series 36-25, and hold the fastest time on the Charles in the race at 5:30.4, which was in 2009.

After Brown, the Huskies will return to the Charles to race Harvard on Wednesday, April 24 for the Smith Cup.
