STORRS, Conn. — Fifth year
Dominique Biron won the heptathlon with a 5,699 score at the UConn Northeast Challenge, highlighting the Huskies' last day of competition in Storrs. Biron won every event except the 800m and posted the seventh-best score in the NCAA this season.
TRACK EVENTS
- The quartet of graduate student Elizabeth McMahon, sophomore Ariann Robinson, freshman Sierra Latonnel and freshman Victoria Knight took third in the 4x100 relay with a 47.00 time.
- On the men's side, senior Noah Sweeney partnered with freshmen Alex Landry, Vance Thorpe and Brunner Williams as they took third in 41.29 seconds.
- Senior Savion Thompson had a season-best 14.68 in the 110m hurdles to notch a seventh-place finish.
- McMahon burned through the 400m dash, posting a time of 55.19 to finish third.
- Latonnel ran in the 400m, sprinting to a 56.74 finish and fifth place, a new personal best. Her 200m time of 24.94 was also a personal best, as she finished eighth.
- In the men's 100m, senior Noah Sweeney flew through the finish line at 10.53, just .05 seconds off his personal best. He took seventh place.
- Sweeney also competed in the 200m, finishing fourth with a 21.29 time.
FIELD EVENTS
- On top of Biron's win, fifth year Kennedee Cox placed fourth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,818 points, winning the high jump with a 1.65-meter jump and earning second in the shot put, pushing her implement 11.18m.
- In the decathlon, junior Paul Wisnaskas finished eighth with a score of 6,043, two points away from his personal best.
- Freshman Ian Solberg got over a 1.93m bar in the high jump, finishing ninth.
- The women's shot put saw senior Madeleine DuChaussee take 10th place with a 12.55m heave.
- Senior Nicholas Pisciotta was the top collegiate finisher in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 59.94m, while junior Tremain Robinson took ninth with 53.37m.
- Sophomore Mia Belanger eclipsed a 1.60m bar, tying for fourth in the women's high jump. Freshman Camryn Cole also finished with a height of 1.60, but took 12th overall.
- Northeastern had three athletes in the top ten of the women's hammer throw, with Liangie Calderon (51.60) finishing ninth, Trinity Cardillo (53.70) finishing sixth and Hope Belvit (55.92) taking fifth.
- Sophomore Max Zuckerman came in third in pole vault, reaching 4.61 meters.
The Huskies will head to the Virginia Challenge and Wake Forest Invitational next weekend, and the Huskies are two weeks away from their home outdoor meet, the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational on April 27.
