Huskies Set To Face Harvard On Wednesday

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's rowing team is set for its last home and dual race of the spring season, facing Harvard for the Smith Cup on Wednesday, April 24. Races are slated for 7 a.m. (1V), 7:12 a.m. (2V), 7:24 a.m. (3V), 7:36 a.m. (4V).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. LAST TIME OUT - Battling windy conditions, the Huskies fell to Brown in a tightly contested first varsity race by 1.6 seconds on the Charles River. The win gave the Dreissigacker Cup back to the Bears, as Northeastern won the last matchup between the teams in 2023. After Brown got off to an early five-seat lead, Northeastern countered through the middle 1000-meter mark through the remainder of the course. In the finishing section, NU continued to push the Bears closing the margin to roughly four seats to the finish. Brown crossed the line first at 6:08.1, and the Huskies finished at 6:09.7.
  2. LAST TIME OUT VS. THE CRIMSON – The Huskies and Crimson both raced at the IRA Invitational in March. Harvard had a strong showing, winning the first varsity race by .67 seconds over Washington. Northeastern finished fifth in that race, defeating Stanford (5:38.79), with a time of 5:32.20.
  3. FINAL STRETCH - After this weekend, the Huskies only have two weekends left of racing with Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 19, and then the team will close out the season at the IRA National Championships in Mercer, New Jersey on Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2.
