Biron, Korczynski Set For NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. — Graduate student Alexander Korczynski and fifth year Dominique Biron are set to compete for national titles at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 5-8. 
 
Korczynski begins his third NCAA Outdoor Championships journey Wednesday, June 5 with the national semifinal in the 3000m steeplechase beginning at 5:02 p.m. PT/8:02 p.m. ET. He will race in the first heat with 11 other competitors, battling for the top five spots to automatically advance to the NCAA final on Friday, June 7 at 6:24 p.m. PT/9:24 p.m. ET. The following two best times between both heats will also qualify for the final. The last time Korczynski was here, he finished 15th with a time of 8:43.00, earning Second Team All-American honors.
 
The Willimantic, Connecticut native has had a fantastic final year, winning gold in the 3000m steeplechase at the CAA Outdoor Championships and racing to a personal-best 8:35.78 in the event at the NCAA East First Round to finish second in his heat and qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Korczynski's three NCAA Outdoor Championship appearances are tied for second all-time at Northeastern and he is just the fourth athlete to qualify for three or more National meets.
 
Biron will compete Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 in the heptathlon events, beginning with the 100m hurdles (1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET), the high jump (2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET), the shot put (4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET) and the 200m (7:43 p.m. PT/10:43 p.m.) on Friday. On Saturday, she will compete in the long jump (10:30 a.m. PT/1:30 p.m. ET), the javelin throw (11:45 a.m. PT/2:45 p.m. ET) and the 800m (4:13 p.m. PT/7:13 p.m. ET).
 
The three-time CAA Field Athlete of the Year won gold in the indoor pentathlon at the CAA Championships, was a silver medalist in the heptathlon at the CAA Outdoor Championships and qualified for this meet with a score of 5,699 points, 17th-best in the nation, achieved on April 12. She is the first Husky female to qualify for the Outdoor Championships since 2007 and is the only CAA woman in the field.
 
The steeplechase will be streamed live on ESPN's networks and the heptathlon will be partially shown on ESPN's networks as well as ESPN+.
