Women’s Soccer Opens 2024 Campaign

BOSTON— The Northeastern women's soccer team is set to open its 2024 campaign at crosstown rival Boston University on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. THE SEASON BEFORE THE SEASON: Jessie Hunt was named to the 2024 Preseason All-CAA Team and Faith Rosenblatt earned Honorable Mention accolades on the preseason team. The duo were named co-captains and are joined in the leadership group by assistant captains Megan Putvinski and Avery LeVangie. The Huskies were picked to finish fourth in the CAA and earned one first-place vote.
  2. LET'S TALK TERRIERS: Northeastern and Boston University are meeting for the fourth year in a row and 24th time overall on Sunday. The Huskies hold a 7-14-2 overall record against BU but have not dropped a match to the Terriers since 2021. BU was picked to finish third in the Patriot League and return 22 players from last year's roster that went 7-7-6.
  3. NEW DAWGS: The Huskies have 13 new faces on their roster this year, including eight freshmen and five graduate transfers. The freshmen include, Federica Gavelli, Foluke Balogun, Leilani Reed, Lilly Stocks, Lughano Nyondo, Noémie Affo, Giulia Karrow and Ella Guzulaitis. The transfers are Bri Jablonowski, Jayden Newkirk, Lauren Robles, Lindsey Brick and Sophie Theresia Augustin.
Northeastern next heads to the West Coast for a two-game swing in California beginning with a game at San Francisco on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. (ET) and then taking on San Jose State on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. (ET).
