Huskies Host Terriers For 2024 Home Opener

BOSTON - The Northeastern University men's soccer team (0-1-0) hosts its first home game of the season this Tuesday evening, August 27th against Boston University (0-0-1) at Parsons Field in Brookline. The game will stream at 6 p.m. on FloFC.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. DIRTY WATER DERBY
Northeastern and BU face off for the 36th time in men's soccer program history, with the Terriers leading the all-time series 23-10-2. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw last season at Nickerson Field after a late BU goal in the 82nd minute drew things even – the Huskies had taken a 1-0 lead just before halftime on a BU own goal. The last time the two teams met in Brookline, the Huskies overcame a two-goal deficit in the second half with goals from Harry Sankey (62') and Fraser Brown (86') to win 2-1.
  1. HOME SWEET HOME
Tuesday's game serves as Northeastern's home opener for the 2024 season – the Huskies play host to nine games at Parsons Field this fall, including a stretch of four straight home contests starting with the BU match.
  1. LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies fell by a score of 3-1 on Thursday evening at Rutgers in their season opener – down 2-0 approaching half time, Sebastian Restrepo hit a perfect free kick from the top of the 18 to cut into the deficit, giving Northeastern momentum heading into the second half, but a Rutgers goal against the run of play in the 55th minute sealed the game for the Scarlet Knights.

Northeastern stays home for its next three contests following BU, hosting non-conference foe Siena on Sunday, September 1st, before beginning CAA play the following Saturday, September 7th against Campbell. Both games will stream on FloFC, and NU's match against Campbell will be simulcast on NESN+.
