RICHMOND, Va. - The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) has named Northeastern University freshman striker
Tomas Sciarra the CAA Rookie of the Week for the week of September 9-15. Sciarra was honored after a five-point performance last week against Merrimack in his first career start.
Sciarra notched his first career point in the first half of last Tuesday's match against Merrimack, on a give-and-go between himself and
Kade Tepe, which allowed Tepe to score the opening goal of the contest. In the second half, Sciarra scored his first two collegiate goals in the 50th and 59th minutes - the first of which was a brilliant run down the right wing collecting a long pass from centerback
Mathias Hille. His second goal, which made the score 4-1, was on a corner kick that couldn't be cleared by the Merrimack defense, and was recycled by
Jaden Prado and
Ethan Kang - Kang lofted a cross over the defense and Sciarra's header beat the goalkeeper high.
Sciarra and the Huskies are back in action this Tuesday evening, September 17th at Parsons Field as they host Harvard University at 6 p.m. on FloFC.
