BOSTON – The Northeastern University men's soccer team (1-3-3, 0-2-0 CAA) plays its last home game until mid-October when the Huskies take on William & Mary (2-4-0, 0-1-0 CAA) this Saturday, September 21
st at 1 p.m. at Parsons Field. NU follows up that contest with a non-conference match on the road against UMass Lowell (5-1-2, 0-0-0 AE) next Tuesday, September 24
th at 6 p.m. Saturday's game will stream on FloFC.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- CAA POINTS ON THE LINE
The Huskies and the Tribe are both looking for their first CAA win of 2024 – William & Mary have two non-conference wins this season, against Binghamton on the road (3-0) and Longwood at home (2-0). The Tribe have faced three teams this season that are ranked or receiving votes, including their one conference game against #24 Hofstra, and their most recent home contest against #15 Penn. William & Mary hold the advantage in the all-time series history, with a 10-5-5 record against NU – in their last meeting at Parsons Field in 2022, the Huskies scored a game-winning goal with two seconds left in regulation to grab a Senior Day win.
- SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
UMass Lowell is off to a strong start with a 5-1-2 record – they'll face Northeastern as their last non-conference match before America East play begins. The River Hawks are 2-0-2 at home, with wins over CCSU and Holy Cross, and draws with BU and Lafayette. This will be the first meeting of the two teams at Cushing Field since the 2019 season, a match in which Northeastern emerged victorious with a 2-1 victory. In their last meeting, the River Hawks tallied an 84
th-minute dagger to grab a 2-1 victory at Parsons Field last season.
- HITTING THE ROAD
After Saturday's contest, the Huskies play their next four matches on the road – they'll play non-conference opponents Lowell and the University of New Hampshire on Tuesdays, and in CAA play they'll face Stony Brook and #23 Charleston. The Huskies don't return home until October 15
th, facing Dartmouth in a Tuesday night bout.
After Tuesday's match with Lowell, the Huskies will play a Friday CAA match against Stony Brook on the 27
th. That contest will begin at 3 p.m. and will stream on FloFC.
