No. 13 Northeastern Opens Season At No. 12 Penn State

BOSTON— The No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team will travel to face the No. 12 Penn State Nittany Lions to open its 2024-25 season for a two-game series beginning on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. Game two is set for a 3 p.m. puck drop on Friday, Sept. 27. Both games will stream live on B1G+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. NEW DAWGS, NEW TRICKS: Seven newcomers join the Huskies for the 2024-25 campaign, including five freshmen and two graduate transfers. The entirely international class of freshmen consists of Canadians– Morgan Jackson, Tristan Thompson and Éloïse Caron, and Swedes– Lisa Jönsson and Tuva Kandell. Jaden Bogden joins the Huskies from Clarkson and Katie Davis comes from Minnesota Duluth.
  2. NICE TO 'C' YOU: Senior forward Taze Thompson was named captain for the Huskies for the 2024-25 season. Thompson is the fourth-straight non-U.S. born player to wear the 'C' for the Huskies and the second-straight Canadian. Joining Thompson in the 2024-25 leadership group, wearing an 'A' are graduate student forward Molly Griffin and junior defenseman Kristina Allard.
  3. WHAT'S A NITTANY LION?: For the second-straight season, Northeastern and Penn State will meet to open the season. Last year, the two teams split the series with NU winning game one, 1-0, and Penn State taking game two, 2-1. The all-time series sits at 1-1-0. Penn State owns a 16-24-13 mark against Hockey East opponents all-time. Penn State was selected to finish in first-place in the 2024-25 Atlantic Hockey America Preseason Coaches' Poll. Tessa Janecke, Lyndie Lobdell and Katie DeSa all earned a spot on the Preseason All-AHA team.
Following the Penn State series, Northeastern will host No. 10 Quinnipiac in Historic Matthews Arena for two games beginning on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
