GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Stavrinides tallied a team-high seven kills, but it wasn't enough as the Northeastern volleyball team (4-7, 2-1 CAA) fell to North Carolina A&T (8-3, 3-0 CAA) in straight sets on Friday afternoon at Corbett Sports Center.
- Set One: The Aggies got off to an early 8-1 lead, but the Huskies fought their way back. A few points later, NU tallied four straight points highlighted by back-to-back kills by Millie Loehr to trim the deficit to 13-10. After a kill by Jane Nelson followed by an error by the hosts made it 21-20, the two teams went back and forth. The Huskies had set point at 24-23, but the Aggies tallied the next two points. Nelson notched another kill to knot the frame up at 25, but the Aggies sealed the set with two straight points at 27-25.
- Set Two: Both teams traded points, with neither leading by more than two. The Aggies tallied four straight points to extend their advantage to 14-8, but the Huskies kept the score within reach. Down the stretch, NU tallied six straight points capped off by a kill by Brynn Smith to knot the frame up at 24, but the Aggies tallied the next two points to take the set at 26-24.
- Set Three: The Aggies led 11-6, and didn't look back. A kill by Smith cut into the deficit at 22-14, but North Carolina A&T took three of the next five points to win the set at 25-16. The Aggies hit .317 in the frame.
- Nadia Koanui tallied a team-high 16 digs.
- Carly Cooper dished out a team-high 19 assists.
- Loehr chipped in with six kills and three blocks.
The Huskies will close out their weekend against North Carolina A&T on Saturday, September 28. First serve is slated for noon on FloVolleyball.
