Hegarty Named CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. - Northeastern University men's soccer goalkeeper Colby Hegarty has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week for his two games played last week at UMass Lowell and Stony Brook.

Hegarty recorded a pair of shutouts in a 0-0-2 week for Northeastern, making a total of 10 saves across the two games. They were the second and third shutouts of his season, and the fifth and sixth shutouts of his career.

In Tuesday's contest against UMass Lowell, Hegarty held the River Hawks scoreless with four saves - it was the first time this season that Lowell had been shut out. On Saturday in CAA play, Hegarty made another six saves facing 11 shots, as the Huskies earned their first conference point of the season in the draw with the Seawolves.

Hegarty has appeared in six games this season for Northeastern, posting a 0.67 goals-against average and making a total of 18 saves with a 1-2-3 record.

The Huskies take on New Hampshire tomorrow evening, Tuesday October 1st at 6 p.m. in Durham, N.H. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
