NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — The Northeastern women's swim and dive team participated in the 15th annual Swim Across America event at Roger Wheeler State Beach on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Huskies set a team fundraising record of $19,000 at the open water swim, the third-highest of all teams that participated. The event raised $279,483, all of which will be donated to the Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, a cancer research, prevention, and treatment facility.
The Huskies' swimmers participated in the one-mile course, while the divers took on the half-mile course. Since 2010, the open-water charity event has helped raise nearly $2.5 million to combat multiple forms of cancer. The Northeastern women's swim and dive team alone has donated $285,893 dating back to 2014.
This year, Northeastern surpassed its 2022 team fundraising record by $3,920.
