No. 15 Northeastern Takes On No. 12 BC In Beanpot Semifinals

BOSTON— The two-time defending Beanpot Champion, No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team will host the No. 12 Boston College Eagles in the Beanpot Semifinals on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Matthews Arena. Tickets are available here and entry for students is free with a valid Northeastern ID.

In addition to the annual robust coverage throughout New England on NESN+, the semifinal games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and internationally.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BEANS: The Huskies will host the semifinal round of the Beanpot in Matthews Arena, with the second night set for TD Garden for the second-straight season as the Huskies look to capture their 20th title overall. Northeastern captured its 19th overall and second-straight Beanpot victory in 2024, after defeating Boston University, 2-1, in overtime for the first-ever Championship on TD Garden ice. Current PWHL goaltender, Gwyneth Philips earned Bertagna award honors as the tournament's top goaltender and senior Skylar Irving was named MVP. Senior Taze Thompson leads all Huskies with four goals in six Beanpot games between her time at NU and Harvard. Thompson is a three-time Beanpot Champion (Harvard and NU) and is undefeated in the Beanpot on Matthews Arena Ice.
  2. DAWGS VS. BIRDS: Northeastern and Boston College are set to meet for the second time this season and 28th time in the Beanpot on Tuesday. NU owns a 15-11-1 record against the Eagles in the Beanpot. The two sides last met in the tournament in 2022, with the Huskies defeating BC, 2-1, to claim their 18th title overall. The last time the two sides met for the Beanpot in Matthews Arena was in the semifinal round in 2022, where the Eagles defeated the Huskies 3-1. NU's last win in Matthews Arena in the Beanpot against the Eagles was a 4-3 Championship victory in 2013. The Eagles defeated NU, 3-0, in the two sides lone meeting earlier this season, which marks the Huskies last loss of the season.
  3. BEANPOT HALL OF FAME: Alumna and 1998 Beanpot Champion Erika Silva Adams is set to be inducted into the Women's Beanpot Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place during the first intermission of the Dunkin' Women's Beanpot Championship game at TD Garden on January 21. Silva Adams joins Boston College's Dana Trivigno in the 2025 class. A star for the Huskies in net from 1997-2001, Silva Adams is one of four goaltenders to win the Bertagna award twice for her Beanpot performances, and one of only three goaltenders to win it in back-to-back years in 2000 and 2001. She is the first-ever recipient of the Bertagna award, the honor given to the top goaltender in the Beanpot.
The Huskies will next return to Hockey East action to face Providence for a home-and-home series beginning on the road on Friday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.
