BOSTON – The Northeastern women's basketball team continues conference play with a split weekend. The Huskies kick off the slate with a road contest at Towson on Friday, Jan. 17, for a 6 p.m. tip before returning to Cabot to host William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. Both games will air on FloCollege, and Sunday's game will also be available on NESN.
Fans attending Athletic events at Solomon Court can park in the Columbus Avenue Garage during the event free of charge. The garage is open to fans two (2) hours prior to game time. From Columbus Garage, fans can access Solomon Court by taking the footbridge over the MBTA tracks. Fans that park in Columbus Garage are asked to exit the garage no later than one (1) hour following the conclusion of the game.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE OPPONENTS - Friday's contest at Towson will be the 35th for Northeastern, with the series at 14-20 in favor of the Tigers. The most recent matchup was last year's CAA Tournament game, where the Huskies fell 69-78, and sophomore Yirsy Quéliz recorded 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 50% shooting.
Sunday's game against William & Mary will be the 18th in series history, with the Huskies holding a 9-8 series lead. The last time both teams squared off was in the 2022-23 season, where the Huskies earned a 71-57 victory. Junior Orayle Kiefer contributed seven points and four rebounds. The Huskies are 2-3 in the last five games against the Tribe.
2. LOCKED IN-TERNATIONAL - Through this season's first three conference games, the international trio of redshirt junior Natalie Larrañaga, redshirt sophomore
Abby Jegede, and Yirsy Quéliz have shined offensively. Jegede leads the team averaging 20.0 points per game shooting 42.6% from the field and 62.5% from behind the arc. The Canada native scored a career-high 25 points and six three-pointers made in the Huskies opening conference game against Stony Brook. Quéliz, a native of the Dominican Republic, is averaging 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists through the first three games, while Larrañaga, a native of Guatemala, has averaged 9.3 points and a steal per game.
3. LOOKING AROUND THE LEAGUE - Several Huskies find themselves highly ranked in the CAA statistically.
Abby Jegede ranks fourth in scoring (15.6 per game), along with teammate Yirsy Quéliz in 20th (11.3 per game). Jegede also leads the CAA in field goal percentage (47.0%) and fourth in free throw percentage (77.5%). Elsewhere, freshman
Alyssa Staten ranks 14th in rebounds per game (6.6) and Quéliz ranks ninth in assists per game (3.2).
