BOSTON— The No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team will open its 2025 slate with two home games at Matthews Arena beginning with a match against Merrimack on Friday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m for Youth Day. The Huskies will then host Holy Cross on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. CLOSING TIME: Northeastern has scored 19 of its 33 goals this season in the third period. Twice this season the Huskies have had come-from-behind games where they scored four goals in the third frame, including in a 4-4 tie and shootout win at Holy Cross. 2. A MERRI GAME DAY TO YOU: The Huskies and the Warriors will open up their 2025 slates against one another. NU ended 2024 with a victory at UNH, while Merrimack fell to Maine. Northeastern went 3-1-0 against MC last season, including a 4-1 victory in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. This is the first meeting between the two teams since that game. Calli Hogarth and Margaux Favre have split time in goal this season. Hogarth owns a 2.83 GAA and .904 save percentage. Favre has a 2.92 GAA and .905 save percentage.
  3. PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS: Northeastern and Holy Cross will close out the three-game Hockey East series on Saturday. The Huskies tied with Holy Cross on the road and then won, 4-2 at home. Senior Taze Thompson leads all Huskies with five points against the Crusaders this year off one goal and four assists in two games. The Crusaders will take on Boston University on Friday before facing the Huskies and ended 2024 with an overtime loss at Merrimack. Emily Crovo leads HC with 14 points off six goals and eight assists.
The Huskies will next host Yale for their Skating Strides game on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
