BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team (11-10, 3-5) received a game-high 22 points from
LA Pratt, but Towson (12-9, 7-1) got 21 points from Dylan Williamson and shot 58% from three-point range en route to a 75-65 win over the Huskies on Monday night at Matthews Arena.
Â
Trailing by 11 at halftime, Northeastern trimmed the deficit to as little as five points with 14 minutes to play before an 11-2 Towson run over less than four minutes midway through the half put the game out of reach. The Tigers shot 29-of-54 (54%) in the game and 11-of-19 from long range, putting three players in double figures and turning 17 Northeastern turnovers into 23 points.
Â
Pratt was one of two Huskies in double figures, joined by
Harold Woods' 16 points and five rebounds as Northeastern finished 23-of-56 overall and 6-of-19 from deep.
Â
Towson shot 55% from the floor and 58% from deep in the first half, led by 14 points from Williamson to take a 41-29 lead into halftime. The Tigers never trailed in the half, and used a 12-2 run over the final 2:54 to take the double digit lead.
Â
Northeastern, meanwhile, got 12 points from Pratt on 5-of-10 from the floor for a Huskies squad that shot 42% overall.
Â
The Huskies came out of the break hot, hitting four of their first seven shots and going on a 9-0 run to trim the gap to five four minutes into the second half, prompting an early Towson timeout.
Â
That's as close as Northeastern would get, though, as the teams went back and forth over the next eight minutes before the 11-2 Tigers run put the visitors up for good with 4:44 to go, 66-51.Â
Â
The Huskies will head back on the road for three straight games, beginning on Thursday at Hampton. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on FloCollege.
