BOSTON – With Hofstra (9-6, 1-1) holding a two-point lead with nine minutes to play, the Pride closed the game on a 23-7 run to knock off the Northeastern men's basketball team (9-6, 1-1) on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena, 55-37.

Northeastern struggled offensively all afternoon, finishing 13-of-61 overall and 3-of-25 from three-point range. Rashad King recorded his second double double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the only Husky in double figures.

Hofstra, meanwhile, bounced back from a 33% shooting performance in the first half to click at 48% in the second, led by 22 points from Cruz Davis. He was joined in double figures by Jean Aranguren (14 points, 10 rebounds).

It was a defensive battle in the first half with the teams combining to shoot 13-of-50, with the Huskies taking a 19-18 lead at recess.

King led the way with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting for the Huskies while the Northeastern defense forced the Pride into 13 first half turnovers.

Hofstra got things going out of the break, opening on a 7-0 run to take a six-point lead before a three from JB Frankel helped stop the bleeding and make it 25-22 Pride with 15:45 to play.

Northeastern responded when King and Harold Woods (seven points, eight rebounds) combined for a quick 7-2 run to bring the deficit down to two with less than eight minutes to play, but Hofstra would answer with a 23-7 run over the final eight minutes to take a commanding lead down the stretch.

The Huskies will be back in action on Thursday when Northeastern travels to Towson. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on FloCollege.
