BOSTON – A mid-game equalizer wasn't enough to put the Northeastern men's hockey team ahead as they fell 2-1 to Army West Point on Friday night.
 
Holy Cross struck at the 6:12 mark in the first period as Billy Batten tipped the puck in off a shot from Jude Brower at the top of the right dot to carry the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
 
Midway through the middle frame, senior Austen May recorded his first of the year to make it a 1-1 game. With a net-front battle ensuing, a loose puck slipped over to freshman Giacomo Martino who knocked the puck into the slot. May, coming off the bench, skated up for a one-timer and the bury.
 
With the game unsettled heading into the third period, Northeastern held a 23-19 shot lead. With 9:25 left on the clock, the Black Knights took back the advantage, 2-1, off a hard shot from the slot.
Junior goaltender Lawton Zacher finished the night with 21 save.
 
The Huskies hit the road for the first time this season next Friday, Oct. 17 at the Mullins Center to face UMass.
