ELON, N.C. – Northeastern (7-8, 3-3 CAA) cruised to a clean sweep on the road, taking all three sets to top Elon (4-13, 2-4 CAA) and cap off a strong weekend.
Northeastern def. Elon: 25-15, 25-19, 25-14
- Set One: Northeastern took the opening set 25-15 over Elon after a close start that was tied 10-10. From there, the Huskies found their rhythm and were able to pull ahead. Svenja Rodenbuesch led the charge with eight kills, while Arina Sosinovica and Valentina Meirelles combined for seven kills to close out the strong set.
- Set Two: The Huskies stayed in control from start to finish in the second set, taking it 25-19 to go up 2-0 in the match. NU's steady offense and serving pressure kept Elon on its heels, highlighted by three aces and another strong play making set from Sofia King, who notched four assists. Rodenbeusch and Meirelles continued to pace the attack, with Meirelles sealing the set on the final kill.
- Set Three: Northeastern swept Elon in three straight sets, closing out the final set, 25-14. Brynn Smith contributed two aces and four kills, including the game-winning point, while Sosinovica added seven assists.
- Brynn Smith led the match with 13 points and 11 kills, while adding eight digs and two aces.
- Nadia Koanui recorded a match-high 16 digs and added five assists and two aces.
- Both Arina Sosinovica and Sofia King found themselves in the lead for assists, recording match totals of 19 and 15, respectively.
- As a unit, Northeastern tallied 45 kills, 45 digs, 42 assists, and seven service aces.
Northeastern is back in the Cabot Center next weekend as they host Charleston for two matches (Sat., Oct 18 – Sun., Oct. 19).
