DEDHAM, Mass. – The Northeastern field hockey team (6-6, 2-1 CAA) defeated the Hofstra Pride (6-8, 0-3) in a close 2-1 battle, after being down by one goal after the first quarter. Emilia Adragna and Jessica Garden each gave the Huskies a goal to secure the win.
Hofstra struck first late in the opening corner when Teresa Karoff knocked one past Loveridge for her league-leading ninth goal of the season off a feed from Caitlin Lozano on a penalty corner.
Northeastern hung tough, and leveled the game at one five minutes into the second quarter off a penalty corner when Emilia Adragna redirected a shot from Lucy Walton past Pride goalkeeper Luci Hollister for her team-leading fourth of the year.
Jessica Garden gave the Huskies the lead in the opening minute of the third quarter on an individual effort before burying her third goal of the season past Hollister to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Northeastern will be back in action on Sunday when the Huskies travel to Hamden, Conn. for a 1 p.m. matchup at Quinnipiac.
