BOSTON — The Northeastern women's swimming and diving team begins its season Saturday, Oct. 4 at home against Vermont. The event will begin at 10 a.m. in Barletta Natatorium and will be available on FloCollege.
The meet is is free admission for all spectators. The team has dedicated this meet to Breast Cancer Awareness month, the women will be honoring loved ones and celebrating survivors.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- CAPTAINING THE SHIP: Senior Kotoko Blair, senior Mary Nordmann and senior Teagan Osga were named captains of the 2025-26 squad by head coach Roy Coates. The trio will lead a squad that finished fourth at the 2025 CAA Championships. The captains and the rest of the Huskies will have three opportunities to compete at home this year, starting with Vermont, then New Hampshire (Dec. 6) and finally Stony Brook (Jan. 24). This meet marks the fifth consecutive meeting between Vermont and Northeastern, with the Huskies securing the win in the last four.
- COACHES CORNER: Diving coach Lauren Colby returns for her 12th season with the Huskies. Colby brought home the 2025 CAA Diving Coach of the Year for the third straight season, becoming the fifth coach in CAA history to win three yearly diving awards. In this first meet of the season, Colby and the Huskies face her Alma mater, Vermont. During her time at Vermont, she was a two-time team captain (2010-12) and earned the most improved diver award in 2012. Colby also earned the Vermont Diver of the Year award in 2009 and was a four-time America East Conference Diver of the Week during her career. Head coach, Roy Coates, returns for his 33rd season coaching the Huskies. In 2023-24, Roy recorded his 200th career win.
- NEW DAWGS: Northeastern enters the 2025-26 season with almost half of a new roster. The Huskies welcome eleven new faces to the team this season. Two of these newcomers are divers, Kailyn Aquino and Tyler Ostrom. They arrive to campus from seven different states and three countries.
After this weekend, the Huskies will compete at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 12 p.m.
