Kevin Cobb Named Inside Pitch 2025 Pitching Coach Of The Year

BOSTON -- Northeastern University Associate Head Coach Kevin Cobb has been named the 2025 Inside Pitch 'Pitching Coach of the Year' presented by Rawlings, after leading the Huskies' pitching staff to a historic season that saw the team set multiple program and national records.

Under Cobb's guidance, Northeastern's pitching staff posted a nation-leading 3.06 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, while pacing the NCAA with 17 shutouts – the fifth-most shutouts in a single season in NCAA history. The Huskies' dominant pitching performance helped propel the team to a program-record 49-11 overall record and a 25-2 conference record en route to the 2025 CAA Regular Season and Tournament championships, and the team's first NCAA Regional win since 1973.

Cobb's staff shattered multiple defensive program records during the 2025 campaign, including the 1.07 WHIP, 17 shutouts, 491 strikeouts, and .291 opponent batting average. Graduate left-hander Will Jones set a program record with 11 single-season pitching wins and was named the NCBWA District 1 Player of the Year.

The excellence of Cobb's pitching staff was recognized throughout the postseason, with three Huskies earning All-American honors – Jones, Charlie Walker, and Jordan Gottesman. Additionally, Gottesman and Brett Dunham were named CAA All-Tournament pitchers as Northeastern posted a perfect 3-0 record in the CAA postseason.

At season's end, Gottesman and fellow pitchers Aiven Cabral and Cooper McGrath were selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, while Walker signed as an undrafted free agent just days later.

The Pitching Coach of the Year Award, presented every year at the ABCA and Rawlings, is in its 22nd year and is voted on by a committee of previous award winners. The award will be presented at this year's ABCA Convention in Columbus, Ohio which begins on January 8th, 2026.
