Swim & Dive Earns First Home Win Against Vermont

BOSTON, Mass. – The Northeastern women's swim and dive team (1-0) hosted Vermont in Barletta Natatorium for its first home meet of the season, taking a 192-108 victory over the Catamounts (0-1) on Family & Friends Day Saturday afternoon.  

  • Senior Anelise Kim started the meet off strong for the Huskies by earning a win in the 3M Dive with a score of 253.95. Freshman Kailyn Aquino began her collegiate career with a third-place finish and a 223.20 score. Rounding out the top five was sophomore Maddie Wong with a score of 215.85.
  • The Huskies followed up with a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as a team comprising of sophomore Delaney Alonso, graduate student Elisabeth Bendall, freshman Alex Fuller and junior May Bradburn,  touched the wall at 1:46.42. 
  • Freshman Abigail Gowern earned her first victory in the 1000 Free, finishing with a time of 10:29.11. Junior Bella Busconi came in third with a mark of 10:50.03.
  • Northeastern's freshman class continued to dominate, as Siena Griffiths was victorious in the 200 Yard Free with a time of 1:55.09, and Eliana Auerbach clinched third with 1:59.21. Freshman Sophie Bromley won the 100 Yard Back with a time of 57.67.
  • The 50 Yard Free was controlled by junior May Bradburn, 24:33. Senior captain Kotoko Blair was close behind her with a time 24:49, taking third-place. 
  • Back on the diving board, Anelise Kim took home another victory in the 1M Dive with a score of 261. Kailyn Quino took another third-place finish, 225.23 to end the diving portion of the meet. 
  • In the 12th event of the meet, freshman Marea Li took victory in the 200 Yard Breast with a recorded time of 2:25.36. The freshmen continued to show out as Abigail Gowern took home first in the 500 Yard Free with a time of 5:09.59.
  • The Huskies controlled the 100 Yard Butterfly, earning the top four spots. Alex Fuller touched the wall at 56.13, followed by May Bradburn at 56.88, Mary Nordmann at 57.82, and Kate Kerber at 58.80.
  • Another all-podium finish was had by the Huskies in the 200 Yard IM. Alex campion took home first with 2:08.68, followed by Sophie Bromley with 2:12.27 and Marea Li with 2:12.94. 
  • Northeastern finished the meet with a win in the 200 Yard Free Relay with Mary Nordmann, Alex Fuller, Kotoko Blair, and May Bradburn finishing with a time of 1:36.31.
  • The Huskies opened their home schedule with a decisive 192-108 victory.

Northeastern women's swim and dive team heads south to take on Rhode Island, at the Tootell Aquatic Center on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 12 p.m.
