NU Women's Basketball Opens Season At Home Against LIU

BOSTON -- The 2025-26 season for the Northeastern University women's basketball team kicks off this Monday, November 3rd at 4 p.m. in the Cabot Center, as the Huskies host the LIU Sharks. The game will stream on FloCollege, and tickets can be purchased at NUHuskies.com/tickets.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. PRESEASON HONORS: Junior guard Yirsy Quéliz was named All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention at the conference's annual Media Day. The Dominican Republic native is the Huskies returning starting point guard and averaged 11.7 points per game alongside 3.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds during her sophomore campaign. Quéliz scored a season-high 20 points on Feb. 14 against N.C. A&T and led the Huskies with 21 steals in conference play.
  2. FRESH START: The Huskies open their season at home for the first time since the 2019-2020 season opener against South Dakota, looking to start the season strong. Northeastern returns key contributors from last season with a strong incoming class of transfers and freshmen and will look to establish early momentum in front of the home crowd.
  3. SCOUTING LIU: The Sharks enter the contest off a 6-24 season in 2024-25. It'll be the first meeting of the two teams in the Cabot Center since December of 2006, with the Huskies leading the all-time series 3-2.

Following Monday's game, the Huskies hit the road to face Yale on Friday night, November 7th at 6 p.m.
